A HEART centred therapist + yoga instructor

HEY, I’M HEATHER

I’m a mental health therapist and trauma informed yoga teacher who is passionate about helping others as they cultivate healing, purpose, and growth in their lives. I began my career as a therapist in 2009 and I feel privileged to be able to support others in their wellness journey through the power of counselling.

I have extensive training in the treatment of eating disorders, relationship counselling, and somatic therapy, and I am constantly pursuing personal and professional development opportunities to make me a better therapist and a healthier human being. I love learning about how we can improve our relationships with ourselves, build healthy relationships with those we care about, and how we can live a life filled with meaning and purpose.

In 2016 I started practicing yoga as a way to rehab a knee injury and I immediately fell in love with the practice. Though I started practicing yoga to improve my physical health issues, I continue the practice for the mental, emotional and spiritual benefits it brings to my life. In 2018 I travelled to Rishikesh, India and obtained my certification as a yoga teacher and returned to India again in 2020 and completed my meditation teacher certification. I am a certified Somatic Trauma Therapist and I love to explore with clients the healing power that resides within their own bodies and how to cultivate somatic awareness to help restore calm to the nervous system.

“I believe our journey of SELF DISCOVERY and HEALING is never finished; there is always more to LEARN about ourselves and how we RELATE to the world around us.”

I recognize the importance of engaging in my own personal growth process and self care practices so that I can better understand myself and create the space and objectivity necessary so that I can best support you!

This includes continued learning and professional development, attending therapy, and spending time in nature whether that be hiking, paddle boarding, or just sitting under a tree with a good book.

I also have a daily meditation and yoga practice which has been an integral part of my journey of self-discovery and helps keep me grounded and connected to my inner wisdom in a positive way.
